In his interview, Keating spoke to us virtually his memories of Boyzone, whether he gets stage jitters and what fans tin can expect from his Dubai prove.

How does it experience to be gearing up to go on phase over again?

It's quite emotional, to be honest. I'm and so excited about getting back at it. It's been 2 years since we've had live music, alive entertainment in our lives. I'm very eager to go dorsum ... I have a vivid show put together for the dark in Dubai. It'due south the first of the rest of the year for me ... the outset bear witness of the year, and I'm very excited.

What can fans expect from the show?

I'm giving them what they want, don't you worry. There's no new songs from the new anthology or anything like that — it's everything people desire to hear from. If yous're coming to my show, information technology's 'When Yous Say Zero At All', 'Life is a Roller Coaster', 'Lovin' Each Day'. And Boyzone is no more and so when I do shows now these days, I similar to tip the cap out of respect for the ring that got me where I am today. So I do a bunch of Boyzone songs as well. Very special night.

Y'all've performed in the UAE earlier a number of times. Is at that place a particular chemical element that draws you back hither?

When people show you respect and love, it's pretty powerful, it stays with you lot. And then you know, yous want to come dorsum to that, you want to experience that energy and that joy and that happiness. And then every time I come to Dubai or across the Centre East, by and large, I feel that; I become that dearest from people. Then I'm very eager to get dorsum.

Yous're coming back for St Patrick's Solar day [which is on March 17]. As an Irish person you must be pretty proud to know that your people are all over world and they are ready to see you perform.

Absolutely, it's very special. I mean, the Irish, nosotros love to fly the flag specially on Paddy'southward weekend. It's going to be a magic fourth dimension to exist in Dubai and perform at this incredible arena, Coca-Cola Arena. It just looks insane ... I but want to get dorsum on stage and perform again. And I hope there'll exist lots of Irish there but likewise I hope people from all over the world. Whoever yous are in Dubai, come downward to the show and let'southward all accept a fun time.

Yous've been know for being part of Boyzone and it'due south part of who you are, but how do you desire to be known now?

A vocalist, a performer, that's who I am — vocalizer-songwriter. Whatsoever title y'all want to put on that, but that's who I am. That's what I've been since I was 16 years of age. Then all the other things that yous pick upward along the way, whether it's acting or a Tv set host or radio host or any, they're but spin-offs of what came first, which was singing, performing on stage as a band member or as a solo artist.

You must have lots of fond memories from that time. Exercise y'all look back on it a lot?

And then many memories, so many good times. And so many wonderful memories. You lot know, I miss the camaraderie, I miss the boys a lot. But things change when you abound up and you become older ... you need modify. We all demand modify. That'due south just the man way. It's what we practice. We're all doing different things at present, and this is what I do.

You've been a performer for so many years. Accept there been any special moments that stand out?

There's been loads. Singing with Elton John in Madison Square Garden, or singing with Pavarotti or opening the World Cup in Berlin ... there's been millions, so many vivid moments with Boyzone and solo. I've been very lucky. I'm very lucky to sing with incredible people on my anthology 'Twenty Xx', which came out ii years ago, to sing with Shania Twain and Robbie Williams and Emeli Sandé. Just all of those different people across there ... Ed Sheeran performing on it ... information technology's merely incredible. I'm very lucky, very blest.

Exercise you have any pre-concert rituals?

I spend some time on my ain warming up. That's very important, just to spend time focusing, getting your head in the game ready for the performance, warming up your vocals. Because what you don't desire to practice is overshoot the rails and leave and blow your voice in the first few songs. Then information technology's very important that you're warm. Yous know, you've got to be warm in your phonation before you even step on stage. So getting performance-ready is very important.

Do you still become nervous performing?

I don't get nervous. You get adrenalin flowing through your body, you don't become nervous.

Y'all released your latest album 'Songs from Home' last year, which was an anthology of cover songs. What has been your inspiration when information technology comes to making music or creating records?

I gauge your family unit or your experiences in life. Y'all cascade all of that into your songs and your music. That's all-consuming. Y'all know, that's what consumes me. Information technology's my family, my family life and I dear information technology. I cascade all that love and feeling into songs.

How do you stay creative later then many years of being in the industry?

I feel very inspired all the time. I think you can get tired and that switch goes off. As soon as you're reenergised, as a writer, as a creator of songs and music, that always stays there bubbles all the time, I recall.

What can fans look from you in terms of music in the time to come?

I'g going to first writing a new anthology, merely it's gonna be a long time earlier information technology comes out. [I] pushed out two albums in two years and it'southward fourth dimension for a interruption once again.

Do you ever think that your kids might get into music?

Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I'll exist at that place to guide them and help them out. It'due south a wonderful industry. I would protect them and keep them safe from the pitfalls but aye, why non? Absolutely.

So we've been in this pandemic for such a long time now and things are finally getting improve. Just at the peak of it, it might take been tough? What were some of the lessons that y'all took away from that fourth dimension?

To be honest, I really enjoyed having that fourth dimension around my family. I've never been able to have that much time at home, because I've always worked and travelled. Then information technology immune me to exist effectually our little Coco, who you can hear in the background. She was built-in in the middle of the first lockdown in 2020. So to take all of that quality fourth dimension with my niggling daughter was incredible. I was at that place for every nappy change and every bedtime story, and every bath time and feed and it was it was incredible.

And the time that I just had with my older children and my wife, nosotros've all simply had a proper bonding session. I accept missed live operation profoundly and it has effected me mentally. And I'thou very eager to get dorsum on phase once again and this show on the 18th is very important to me. This is the commencement of the shows for the balance of the twelvemonth.

Don't miss it!
